COMPREHENSIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION FOR TICS (CBIT)
Tic disorders and tourette's syndrome to reduce tics for all ages!
The Comprehensive Behavior Intervention for Tics (CBIT) program is a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and habit reversal training that consists of weekly 1-1 virtual sessions. The goal is to significantly reduce tics and the associated symptoms that accompany tics in a short amount of time.
This approach will significantly increase confidence and advocacy skills along with strategies to reduce sensory hypersensitivities, anxiety, and co-morbidities such as OCD, ADHD, and sleep issues.
CBIT is a non-medicated treatment consisting of three important components:
1) Becoming more aware of your tics and the urge to tic
2) Training to do competing behavior when they feel the urge to tic
3) Making changes to day to day activities in ways that can be helpful in reducing tics
We recommend this CBIT program for individuals older than 7 years old. Family members will play a part in the CBIT program as well.
